Outback Australia is the Northern Territory. It covers an area approximately 1.35 million square kilometres, which makes it twice the size of Texas. Its tiny population however is nearly 30 per cent Aboriginal. And of the 200,000 people who live in NT, most live in the Territory’s capital city – Darwin.

Since the seventies, almost half the land mass of the Northern Territory has been won back for Aboriginal people under the Aboriginal Lands Rights Act 1976 and Native Title Act 1993.
